One of the bonuses of living in a tri-state area has to be the amazing arts and cultural festivals that take place throughout the year. With that said, I decided to pull together a diverse list of some the of the annual festivals that take place in the DC/Maryland/Virginia metropolitan area.
Enjoy the list, and be sure to attend and enjoy as many festivals as possible. These festivals are not only entertaining, but they help support many local businesses.
10th Annual Federal Hill FEST-of-ALL
Fest-of-All is showcases the best of Federal Hill’s food, drink and fashion. The festival features an array of food from area restaurants and taverns, live music and dancing, a silent auction and more.

Meet In The Street
An annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration sponsored by Claddagh Pub in Canton’s O’Donnell Square in Baltimore. The event features live music, food, heated tents, and Irish beer.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival
The National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates spring in Washington, DC, the gift of the cherry blossom trees, and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan. Various events are scheduled throughout a three-week period.

Light City Baltimore
This is a festival in which light displays and sculptures, video projections on buildings and interactive technologies create experiences around downtown Baltimore. In addition, combine that with a music festival and a innovation lab that brings thought leaders from around Baltimore and the country and you have Light City.

Sugarloaf Craft Festival
One of the most popular craft shows in the country, the Sugarloaf Craft Festival was originally created to provide a low-overhead marketplace where artists and craftspeople could sell their unique creations direct to the public. Today, that continues to be the mission of the Sugarloaf Craft Festivals.

Waterfront Spring Festival
The Waterfront Spring Festival is a free event and open to the public. It features food trucks, vendors, kid zone, live music, and Ravens player appearances.

Federal Hill Spring Block Party
The annual Spring Block Party on Cross Street features food, drinks, live music and a variety of Baltimore’s best arts and crafts vendors.

Smithsonian Craft Show
Works from 120 artists will be on display and on sale during the Smithsonian Craft Show. This includes all facets of contemporary design and craft– basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art, and wood.

The Highlandtown Wine Festival
Presented by the Highlandtown Community Association the festival celebrates the tradition of home winemaking. Held on the corner of Conkling & Claremont Streets in Baltimore, the festival features Homemade Wine Competition, Wine Tastings, Children’s Activities, Arts & Crafts Vendors, Food, and Music.

Bike Jam Baltimore
A day long festival of cycling held in Patterson Park in which amateurs and professionals compete for cash prizes. The festival also includes live music, food vendors, and activities for kids.
A festival of colors that celebrates love and “signifies new life, new growth, and new beginnings”. Be sure to wear white and be prepared to be covered in non-toxic packs of color. The Holi festival will include music, dancing, and food. This is a drug and alcohol free festival that believes in being courteous to others. No aiming at the mouth or eyes with a color pack.

KarmaFest® is advertised as the ultimate Holistic/Psychic/Yoga festival. Founded by Patricia Hawse in 2005.

Wine In The Woods
Wine In The Woods has been a staple in Howard County for more than 20 years. The two-day festival showcases Maryland wines, artisans, specialty foods, wine education, and live music.

DMV House Music Festival
A celebration of House Music that takes place in DC’s Malcolm X Park. The event is free and attendees are encouraged to bring their blankets and picnic baskets and be prepared to dance.

Brew at the Zoo and Wine Too
The Maryland Zoo’s biggest fundraiser featuring, food, beer, wine and live music. Tickets to the event includes admission to the zoo. Traditionally three live bands play each day of the multi-day festival.

Charles Village Festival
The Charles Village Festival brings together the entire Greater Charles Village community for a two-day festival that includes a block party with live music, a garden walk tour, a 5k & 1k kids fun run. All proceeds raised from the event benefit local non-profit organizations.

Washington Folk Festival
The Washington Folk Festival showcases the diversity of traditional music in the Washington area. All musicians, storytellers, dancers, and crafts people live in the the greater Washington metropolitan area and volunteer their talents to put on the festival.

Great Grapes! Wine, Art, and Food Festival
Advertised as Baltimore’s premier casual Maryland wine festival with HUNDREDS of wines available for tasting. Hundreds of thousands of guests have ventured to Hunt Valley, MD to enjoy the Festival and use it as a weekend getaway.

The Baltimore Pride Celebration is a program of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore, a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1977.

Greek Folk Festival
The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Greek Folk Festival, or St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival or Greek Folk Festival for short, is one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s largest and longest running annual Hellenic events and is the most attended Greek-American community event in Maryland.

Giant National BBQ Battle

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival
This festival, held every summer on the National Mall, celebrates several US and foreign cultures each year with music, crafts, food and demonstrations of practical skills. The festival usually takes place at the end of June and goes into July.

Baltimore Caribbean Carnival Festival
The Baltimore Caribbean Carnival Festival celebrates the heritage of the island nations. The festival provides a taste of authentic island cuisine, international entertainment, a parade and more.

Artscape is a 3-day arts festival that features live concerts, theater, fashion shows, films, experimental music, opera, dance, jazz and vocal competitions, crafts, the fine arts, children’s entertainers and much, much, more. The festival is the largest free arts festival in the country with an average attendance of 350,000 people.

Ocean City Greek Festival

The Vietfest is a two-day outdoor festival that showcases the best of Vietnamese culture, talent, business, and people. Annually, the festival celebrates the rich and thriving traditions of the African American community. Drawing in national and local entertainers, small and large businesses, and approximately 50,000 attendees.

Fell’s Point Fun Festival
For more than 40 years, this outdoor street festival has existed. The festival usually features 5 stages of live music, more than 30 food vendors, an arts & crafts row, an international bazaar, a flea market, and section for non-profits to do outreach.

The Pigtown Festival features live music, food, drinks, and it’s famous parade of pig parade. Pigtown a.k.a Washington Village received its nickname because of the many pigs that used to be brought to the meat packing plants to be slaughtered.

Maryland Irish Festival
The Maryland Irish Festival is presented by Irish Charities of Maryland and held annually at the Timonium Fair Grounds on the second weekend in November.
