Legendary singer Miki Howard played two sold out shows at City Winery in Washington, DC on Monday, February 4 and Tuesday February 5, 2019.
Howard’s roots in music started right in her household as a child. Both her mother and father were gospel singers and that connection to music and the music industry put Howard around and introduced her to some of the greatest singers and musicians in the world. Fat’s Domino’s, Aretha Franklin, James Cleveland, Billy Preston, Mavis Staples are just some of the great artist that Howard would meet or were around as a child.
At the age of 16, Howard got her start in the music industry when she was recruited to be a member of the R&B group Side Effect. Her time with the group would last six years before Howard decided she wanted to leave the group to begin a solo career. This led to her signing with Atlantic Records and that’s when her legendary career and the hit songs she would sing begin. “Come Share My Love”, “Love Under New Management”, “Baby Be Mine”, “Ain’t Nuthin In The World“, Until You Come Back To Me, and “That’s The Way Love Is” ft. Gerald Levert are some of the many songs that fans of Howard’s have come to love throughout her career.
The audience at City Winery during Howard’s two night stint at the venue had the chance to hear these classic songs for themselves. We sent photographer JC Collins to capture Miki Howard’s performance at City Winery. Before you check out the photos, check out “A Moment With: Miki Howard”.
