Anthony Hamilton performed in front of a nearly sold out venue at MGM National Harbor on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
The GRAMMY award winning singer has a huge following in the DMV. Whenever he comes to town its best to get your tickets as soon as possible. Once of things that I appreciate about Anthony Hamilton, and its one of the reason he has a tight show, is his loyalty to his band and backup singers. If you have been to more than one of his shows, you will most likely see many of the same faces performing on stage with him. His backup singers have even branched off and started there own group called The Hamiltones.
During his show at the MGM National Harbor it wasn’t any different. Plenty of familiar faces on stage performing along side the Grammy Award winning singer.
Before we get to the photos, one fun fact that I am surprised that most people don’t know. Anthony Hamilton started off as a backup singer for D’Angelo during the Voodoo tour. The Voodoo tour is critically acclaimed. If you are a young artist, and you want to learn how to put on a tight show from start to finish, watch highlights from this tour. It included many great musicians including ?uestlove, James Poyser, Pino Palladino, F. Knuckles, Roy Hargrove, Jef Lee Johnson, Shelby Johnson and Russell Gunn to name a few.
I believe Anthony Hamilton took a lot of what he learned from his experiences working with those great musicians during the Voodoo Tour and used it to shape his live show today which is excellent.
With that said, we sent photographer JC Collins to capture Anthony Hamilton’s performance at MGM National Harbor. Enjoy the photos and head over to JC’s Instagram page to see more of his work.
