This past weekend, the Shindig Music Festival took place in Carroll Park in Baltimore, MD. Festival goers could not have asked for a better day weather wise. A clear blue sky, no humidity, and temperatures in the 80’s made for a perfect music festival day.
The festival featured 14 bands on two different stages. Included in this years festival line-up were the Rebel Inc., Bad Seed Rising, The Bots, Charm City Devils, The Mahones, Larry and His Flask, Lucero, Fishbone, J Roddy Walston & The Business, Halestorm, Gogol Bordello, Clutch, Rise Against, and Jane’s Addiction. Rise Against and Jane’s Addiction served as co-headliner’s for the show.
The Shindig Music Festival was produced by local independent promoter 24-7 entertainment. In only its second year, the Shindig Music Festival has the potential to be the best music festival in Maryland. Why do I say that? Because of the attention to detail that the staff at 24-7 put into the festival.
Some Examples:
- Concert goers were quickly let into the festival.
- The food and drink lines were never long.
- The food and drink that was offered was much more affordable than any music festival I have been to this year.
- There was plenty of space for people to layout and relax, or to toss a frisbee around.
- Shade! There were plenty of shaded areas so people could get out of the sun.
- The staggered set-times made it so concert goers did not miss a band and something was always going on.
- If the band that was playing was not for you, you could head over to the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Side Stage and watch a performance that was sure to freak you out.
- Plenty of port-a-pots. Not the cleanest, but it’s a music festival.
- The bands that performed put on solid performances.
- Last, but not least Carroll Park. The layout of the park made it perfect for a music festival
