Some of the best artist in R&B and Gospel will be making their way to Baltimore this weekend for the African American Festival. Mint Condition, Brandy, Deitrick Haddon, Mario, Johnny Gill, Chico Debarge, and Monifah are just some of the artist who will be performing this coming Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 at the Camden Yards Sports & Entertainment Complex.
The African American Festival celebrates the life, music, and culture of African Americans. In addition to the amazing musical acts that will be on hand, the festival has a lot more to offer. The best thing that the festival has to offer is that it is free.
- The Beauty Corner will offer make-up tips, hair tips, as well as beauty products and services.
- The Children’s Zone will include arts & crafts, an obstacle course, gaming kiosks, face painting, basketball and more. There will also be a youth performance stage with entertainment by and for youth. Barbers will be on site delivering free hair cuts for children 7-17 during select hours of the day. And there will be a hula hoop contest and dance contest.
- The Pepsi Pavilion will offer empowerment sessions with with celebrity guests, including Music executive Kevin Liles, as well as an education and job skills game show. The pavilion will also play host to the Black Enterprise Elevator Pitch Competition. Five entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners will be invited to pitch on-stage before a panel of judges and a live audience. Lincoln Stephens, Executive Director of The Marcus Graham Project, will also take part in an empowerment session, and there will be a conversation with Laz Alonso about his journey from the boardroom to Hollywood.
- Presented by The Baltimore Times, Entertainment attorney and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks will host conversations with festival-goers about her successful career and she’ll also engage in a book signing of her new book, “Secrets of the Southern Belle”.
- Dozens of food vendors will be on hand to offer various foods to festival goers. If you plan on attending the festival, remember to bring cash.
