No plans for the weekend? Waited until the last minute to plan something, again? No worries, here are three last minute options for you to choose from.
Washington Folk Festival
The Washington Folk Festival has been showcasing the talents of musicians, storytellers, dancers, and crafts people of the Washington metro area for thirty-four years. This annual festival held on the grounds of Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, Maryland, has something for everyone. The festival features seven performance areas that host various musicians, storytellers, dancers and more throughout the day..
The Spanish Ballroom is one of the more popular performance areas because that is where festival attendees can learn many forms of dance, including tango, waltz, cajun, english country dance, polka, Armenian, and more.
In addition, to the festival itself. Glen Echo Park has a very unique history that goes back more than one hundred years. The park has a Dentzel carousel that has been in operation for 94 years that kids love. Many of the old classic buildings, with cool signage included, are still in use. In addition, the park has a playground for kids too. More about the parks unique history can be found here.
If you are looking for something to do with the family this weekend, the Washington Folk Festival really does have something for everyone. Also, I forgot to mention that it is free.

Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon
Here is your chance to say that you ran a half marathon, and at the same time say that you kind of participated in a mini “wine crawl”.
The Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon will take participants through the beautiful wine country of northern Virginia. During the scenic half-marathon that starts and ends at the Doukenie Winery, participants will see the vineyards, estates, horse farms, and by-ways that make up this area of northern Virginia.
Hiddencroft Vineyards will serve as the midpoint in the course. There participants will refuel with a water and wine stop complete with music too.
At the completion of the race, the post-race Wine and Music Festival will kick off back at the Doukenie Winery.
If you want to participate in the half marathon, click here. There is still time to sign-up. If you are all about the wine and music, but not the fitness, and you only want to attend the post race Wine and Music Festival, the details are below.
