So you want to do something different, something fun this weekend, but most of your friends are going to the Preakness Infieldfest. However, you do not want to go because one of your friends is talking about trying to bring back the infamous Preakness port-a-potty race, and your afraid of getting talked into participating.
No worries, here are four last minute options for you to choose from.
Super Art Fight at the Black Cat
Are you a fan of art, or pro-wrestling? If so, Super Art Fight is calling your name. Known as the “The GREATEST Live Art Competition In The KNOWN UNIVERSE”, Super Art Fight pairs artist against one another as they compete for the the Super Art Fight Championship title. Artist, many who come dressed and acting like pro-wrestling style characters, are given a topic in which they must begin the bout with. As time progresses during the bout, the artists are given new topics that are randomly chosen by the Wheel of Death. Where does the fight come in? Artist are allowed and encouraged to “attack” each others art [Let’em Fight]. They do this by either completing a piece that was left unfinished by their opponent or subverting it with their own artistic additions. While all of this is going on, lively pro-wrestling style commentary is occurring. What more can you ask for?

Takoma Porch
Takoma Porch is a unique one day festival that takes place on various porches throughout the Takoma Park Neighborhood in Maryland. 47 musical acts are scheduled to perform on 20 porches between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17. There will be a break in the music from 4:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. During that time, Whole Foods will be conducting a cooking demo at a location yet to be determined. Washington D.C. Dragon Boat Festival
The Washington D.C. Dragon Boat Festival is now in its 13th year. The two day festival, sponsored by the Chinese Women’s League (CWL), serves as a way to promote Chinese culture. In addition to the 250m and 500m dragon boat races, the festival will include cultural exhibitions and craft demonstrations. The festival is held along the Potomac River and this years festival will feature 52 teams and races throughout the day.

Wine In the Woods
Wine In the Woods has become very popular over the years. The two day wine festival has been around since 1992 and attendance for the event now tops 25,000 people annually. This year, 30 wineries will be participating in the festival. Now, for those of you who want to learn something while attending the festival, here is the link to the educational seminars that will take place during the festival.
