Jimmie’s Chicken Shack celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the release of Bring Your Own Stereo at Rams Head Live on Friday, January 10.
Bring Your Own Stereo, the bands most well known album to date, was released on August 24, 1999. The album included their biggest hit to date, “Do Right”. The success of “Do Right” as a single, it peaked at #12 on Billboards US Modern Rock chart, helped draw attention to the band. The single was so successful that the band was invited to visit MTV’s Total Request Live with Carson Daley, and it helped open up major touring opportunities for the band too.
For the band, and for their fans, Bring Your Own Stereo was completely different from most of their previous work. However, the album helped put the band on the map and that helped the band draw attention to the music scene in Maryland.
The current line-up that includes lead singer and founding member Jimi Haha, Jerome Maffeo, Island Styles, and Christian Valiente started the show. When it came time for the songs “Lazy Boy Dash” and “Do Right”, Maffeo, Styles, and Valiente were replaced by the members who were a part of band when Bring Your Own Stereo stereo was recorded. Bassist Che Lemon, guitarist Dave Dowling, and drummer Mike Sipple each took their place to the delight of the large crowd on hand.
Throughout the rest of the night, a musical chairs of sorts would continue as the line-up continued to shuffle as the band played the entire Bring Your Own Stereo album as well as other Jimmie’s Chicken Shack songs.
