Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his iconic “I Have A Dream” speech during the original march which occurred on August 28, 1963. Thousands of people from all over the United States made their way to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC to participate in the “National Action To Realize The Dream”, and to hear from some of the icons of the civil rights moment and current day activist, politicians, and supporters.
Some of the speakers for the gathering included; Rev. Al Sharpton’s, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond, Martin Luther King III, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Mayor of Newark Corey Booker, Rev. Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant, Myrlie Evers-Williams, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga. to name a few.
Even with all of the notable speakers in attendance. What was most impressive was the amount of everyday people who showed up from all over the country.
