The African American Festival took place this past weekend in between the grounds of M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The festival focuses on the music and culture of African Americans and has been doing so for more than 30 years. Presented by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and produced by geiBO Entertainment, attendees to the festival were treated to three performance stages, activities for children, free health screenings, cultural exhibits, contests, education, financial empowerment activities, and food from a variety of vendors.
Saturday served as the opening day of the festival with Fantasia serving as the headliner for the night. No stranger to the African American Festival, this was Fantasia’s third time performing at the festival. Having recently released an album, Side Effects of You which peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and hit #1 on the Top Hip Hop/R&B Albums chart, her performance at the festival could not have come at a better time for fans of Fantasia.
The Grammy Award winning singer, who is known for leaving it all on stage, once again did not disappoint the huge crowd that was in attendance. The crowd was on its feet from start to finish as Fantasia performed songs from her first album Free Yourself to her latest album Side Effects of You. If you have ever seen Fantasia perform, you know she performed with a much emotion, a warm smile on her face, and no shoes on.
Enjoy the photos, and look out for more photos from the festival this week.
