The National Conference on Volunteering and Service took place in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 22. Thousands of service leaders from across the country and around the world, came to Washington, DC for workshops, plenaries, immersion learning sessions and networking opportunities that focus on the power of service to bridge differences and bring people together – across race, income, politics, religion, age and geography – to help one another.
Some of the individuals that the conference brought together included: Karl Rove, Former Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush and David Plouffe, 2008 Obama Campaign Manager, Former White House Senior Adviser, Bloomberg News Analyst; and Donna Brazile, Political strategist, Contributor to CNN and ABC News & Bill O’Reilly, host of the O’Reilly Factor. In addition, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie spoke about how his state benefited from the help of volunteers following super storm Sandy.
