Robert Cray brought his current tour in support of his new album “Nothing But Love” to Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD on Saturday, December 8. Along with Cray, Shemekia Copeland, recently nominated for a Grammy for her latest album 33 1/3, opened the show.
The blues, jazz, and bluegrass communities are different from many other music genres. It is not uncommon to see a musician out talking to their fans before the start of a show. I believe this is why musicians in these genres tour well. They have more of a personal connection with their fans because they build relationships. Shemekia Copeland was out in the crowd before the show talking with some of her fans, and both artist could be found after the show at their merchandise tables signing autographs and talking with their fans.
The veteran blues musician and five-time Grammy award winner will be out on the road for quite some time over the next year. After Cray finishes up the American leg of his tour on December 16th in New Orleans, Cray will head overseas in February for a number of gigs before coming back to the states. Upon his return to the states, he will take the stage on April 12 & 13 for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
