The BET Music Matters Tour featuring Kendrick Lamar made a stop at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD this past Wednesday. This was the first BET Music Matters Tour that featured all hip hop acts. Previous tours have been filled with up and coming stars of R&B music like Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius, Melonie Fiona, and Elle Varner to name a few.
Kendrick Lamar has quickly been making a name for himself in the hip hop industry. His hit single The Recipe featuring Dr. Dre could be heard all over radio this past summer. The Compton native’s highly anticipated debut album, Good kid m.A.A.d.City will be out on October 22, 2012. His most recent single Swimming Pools (Drank) peaked at 20 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart.
Performing on the bill with Kendrick Lamar were fellow members of the hip hop super group Black Hippy, which Lamar is a part of, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. Also on the bill were the hip hop group Fly Union out of Ohio and another Ohio native and Maybach Music Group member Stalley.
