Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Honored

Reverend Goodwin Douglas addresses a capacity crowd at the 7th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Shabbat at the Sixth & I Synagogue in Washington, DC on Friday, January 14, 2011.

The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King was honored by millions across the country during the days leading up to and on his birthday this year. By doing a brief internet search, one can find a list of public events that were staged, breakfast and dinners that were held in his honor, service projects that were completed, and public forums that were held to discuss civil rights. These are just some of the many ways in which communities and organizations decided to honor Dr. King.

I had the opportunity to cover two unique events that were held in honor of Dr. King, the 7th Annual MLK Shabbat at Sixth & I Historic Synonugue in Washington D.C. & The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade in Baltimore, MD.

Both events honored Dr. King in their own unique way. You can see photos from both events below.

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
