The Maryland Wine Festival is the largest of its kind in the state of Maryland. This year is the 26th Anniversary of the festival which is held at the Carroll County Farm Museum.
The two day festival will offer food from local restaurants, wine education seminars, live music, and of course wine tastings from various wineries from around Maryland. With a regular admission, adults 21 years of age and older will receive a logo-engraved wine sampling glass, attendance to the Wine Education Seminars, guided tours of the Carroll County Farm Museum, and access to artisan exhibits and demonstrations.
The festival will be held rain or shine.

How much do you know about the Constitution? That is the question that the folks at The National Archives in Washington DC are asking. If you want to learn more about the Constitution, you can join the the National Archives in celebrating the 223rd anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constituation on Friday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m. The first 223 visitors to the celebration will receive a piece of birthday cake. Visitors will also be treated to a talk by “First Lady Dolley Madison” who will describe the entertainment that took place at the White House in the early 19th century.
While at the National Archives, visit the Rotunda to see the Charters of Freedom. The Rotunda is the permanent home to the Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights, also known as the Charters of Freedom.
On Tuesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m. the celebration will continue when The National Archives hosts The State of the Constitution: What Every American Should Know. The Center for the Constitution at James Madison has been conducting a nationwide survey to see how well the general public understands the American constitutional principals. The results will be revealed during the event and a panel discussion will be held with Constitution scholar Michael Meyerson, University of Baltimore School of Law; Chuck Quigley, executive director of the Center for Civic Education; and Cokie Roberts, senior news analyst for NPR. The panel moderator will be Michael Quinn, President of the Montpelier Foundation.

The Baltimore & Ohio Museum is the home to the first commercial mile of railroad track. Visitors to the museum can take a ride on this stretch of railroad in an old steam engine train through the end of December and on weekends in January. In addition, the weekend of the 18th & 19th of September is KidsFEST Weekend at the museum. Various activities, including a kid’s “All Aboard” caling contest, train rides, and childrens entertainment are scheduled throughout the weekend.

Cost: With a museum admission the tickets to ride on the first commercial mile of railroad track are $1.00 for children ages 2 – 12 and $2.00 for adults and seniors.
The DC Shorts Film Festival slogan is “Keep it short, Keep it reel”. The festival is dedicated to showcasing short films that are 20 minutes or less. Films from around the world (11 countries total) will continue to be presented until September 16. The 97 films being featured include sci-fi, comedies, documentaries, dramas, and experimental films.
The Best of DC Shorts will be showcased on Thursday, September 16th at the E Street Cinema. Two of the four showcase times are sold out. Showcase A at 12:00 pm & Showcase B at 3:00 pm still have tickets available.
