A group of visitors hold a replica of the Great Garrison Flag as a Park Ranger tells the history of the flag on the grounds of Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, MD on Monday, June 29, 2009.
The original Great Garrison Flag was one of two flags, especially made for the garrison, by Mary Pickersgill, a well-known flagmaker in Baltimore at the time. The flag measured 30 feet wide by 42 feet long and was the inspiration for “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
