Jazz fans, head to Colton’s Point, Maryland this weekend to catch JJ Sansaverino, Urban Jazz Coalition, and Paul Taylor at the Potamac Jazz & Seafood Festival. The tickets to the festival are $65 and a portion of the cost of your ticket will go to a good cause. Proceeds benefit museum education programs, preservation projects, exhibits, matching grants for the St. Clement’s Island Museum.

In addition to great jazz, vendors will be on site to sell a variety of food including seafood, desserts and hard and soft beverages.

The Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival takes place on the mainland on the lawn of the St. Clement’s Island Museum. All ticket-holders have the opportunity to arrive early and enjoy a complimentary boat ride to discover and explore St. Clement’s Island from 12 noon to 3 p.m. You will want to be back on the lawn when the first jazz artist plays at 3 p.m. St. Clement’s Island is a Maryland state park and offers a picnic pavilion, picnic tables and grills, hiking trail, educational interpretive panels about island history, and the reconstructed Blackistone Lighthouse, a replica of the original built in 1851. There is also a 40-foot cross to commemorate the landing of the first Maryland colonists founding a colony based on religious toleration. The island is scenic and serene with beautiful vistas, wind-swept vegetation, and activity of various waterfowl. -PJ&SF

ABOUT

Ever since I borrowed a camera from a friend of mine eight years ago, I have loved sharing what I see through the lens of my camera with the world. There is nothing better than making somebody feel like they were right there with you. A brief moment in time, by way of photography, can say so much. I hope that these brief moments in time point people in the direction of someplace, something, or someone that they may not be aware of, and that they are curious enough to go see for themselves.
